From mad bird gods to man-eating women, from a run down Northern
suburb to an Eastern bloc city the work you will see in the IMAGINED CITIES exhibition showcases the exciting imaginations
of some of the best young British comic artists. This exhibition and the 64-paged anthology are the culmination of a six-month
internship run by londonprintstudio where five gifted 21-25 year old comic artists were selected from scores of hopefuls.
They are: Joe Kelly, Rachel Taylor, William Goldsmith, Isabel Greenberg and Freya Harrison. The exhibition also includes
work by professional British comic artists who have acted as project mentors; Al Davison (Vertigo), Ellen Lindner (Whores
of Mensa), Karrie Fransman (Random House) and publisher SelfMadeHero and the book features a foreword from Posy Simmonds (creator
of Tamara Drewe).
This comic project and internship
at London print studio was kindly funded by John Lyon’s Charity.

EMA + ANACOA // The island of Misfit
Toys An exhibition of oil paintings,
drawings and original prints
July 8th - 30th, 2011 Preview Evening Thursday 7th July, 6.00 pm
For this new exhibition at APG Works, Parisian artists EMA & ANACAO
explore the contrast between dark and cute in a fantastic world. The Island of Misfit Toys represents a gloomy universe
populated by vintage, romantic and strange toys inspired by Japanese pop animation, 70's science fiction and graffiti. A new series of oil paintings, drawings and screen prints (produced for the show at the APG Works studio) introduce us to
an island of monstrous squids, half-human half-beast hybrids and muscular super heroes lost in a cataclysmic atmosphere of
falling meteorites and floral patterns.

Martin Bedford: 30 Years Of Rock N Roll Art
Archipelago Works Saturday September 18th. For one day only!
Opening Times: 11am – 8pm As Richard Hawley once stated: "Martin's work is synonymous with the musical
history of Sheffield." You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who could argue otherwise. Martin was the founder
member of the Leadmill co-operative after he worked for a short period as a graphic designer at Sheffield University. Between 1980 and 1992 he created over 2000 iconic posters, graphics and murals for the venue alone alone.
His work appeared in the V&A touring exhibition of the history of posters - and the University Of Berkeley, California,
recently acquired examples of his inspirational art for their Patti Smith collection. Head down to Archipelago Works,
Sidney Street, any time between 11am and 8pm on the September 18 for some music, refreshments and the opportunity
to purchase reprints and limited editions of his work from the last 30 years. www.martinfbedford.com

Silver
& Black - A Group Show of Exclusive Screenprints Build / Cat Johnston / The Designers Republic / Dust / Emily Forgot / Ian Stevenson / Kid Acne / Kiosk /
Martin Bedford / Phlegm / Robin Beck / She One / Susie Wright / Sylvia Ugga / TADO / Tokyo Jo / Tom J. Newell / T-Rex Following on from the Halloween shenanigans of blood oaths, skulls and
smashing pumpkins (literally of course; we played strictly black metal, not Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) Archipelago
are proud to present Silver & Black - the third in a series of exhibitions curated by Sheffield artist and all round good
egg, Kid Acne. This unique group show unites
some of the UK's most prestigious designers, illustrators and graphic artists alongside the rising talents from South
Yorkshire to Shoreditch. Each individual has
been given complete free reign, the only guideline was to produce a piece of work using just Silver & Black. Some have
used the silver to represent Sheffield's "knife and fork town" heritage, some have interpreted it as a shiny
vision of the future. Others more abstract and some just plain dumb! Whatever their choice, the result is an incredibly striking show of metallic editions incorporating a diverse
range of typography, illustrations and graphic design - All of which have been printed in house by resident screen printer
and BMX wizard, Josh Bedford.
